Heavy Equipment Diesel Mechanic

Location: Denver metro area

Pay: $30.00 - $38.00/hour

Schedule: Monday-Saturday | 7:00 AM - 5:00 PM (hours may vary based on paving and construction schedules)

Sign-On Bonus: $3,000

About the Opportunity

We are hiring an experienced Heavy Equipment Diesel Mechanic to join a well-established, family-owned company that has been serving the construction industry since 1906. This role is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a fleet of heavy construction equipment used in asphalt paving, earthmoving, and aggregate operations.

This is primarily a field service position , with approximately 80% of work performed at active job sites. Mechanics are provided with a fully equipped company service truck and service a territory within approximately 50 miles of the Lipan Plant, from Longmont to Sedalia.

Responsibilities
  • Inspect, diagnose, repair, and perform preventative maintenance on heavy construction equipment
  • Troubleshoot diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and mechanical components
  • Respond to equipment breakdowns and perform repairs in the field
  • Complete maintenance reports and repair documentation accurately
  • Maintain service truck inventory, tools, and equipment
  • Minimize downtime through timely maintenance and repairs
  • Follow all company safety procedures and industry best practices
  • Work independently in both field and shop environments
Equipment Serviced

Mechanics will work on a variety of heavy equipment, including:

  • CAT 980 Loaders
  • Excavators
  • Milling Machines
  • Asphalt Pavers
  • Rollers
  • Scrapers
  • Compaction Equipment
  • Asphalt Production Equipment
  • CAT 6090 and other heavy construction equipment
Qualifications
  • Minimum 2 years of experience repairing and maintaining heavy equipment
  • Strong diesel engine troubleshooting and repair skills
  • Experience with hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems
  • Valid driver's license required
  • Clean motor vehicle record with no DUI or reckless driving violations
  • Ability to work independently in a field environment
  • Strong commitment to safety, reliability, and quality workmanship
Schedule & Work Environment
  • Monday-Saturday, typically 7:00 AM - 5:00 PM
  • Overtime regularly available with opportunities to work 60+ hours per week
  • Hours may fluctuate based on asphalt production and paving schedules
  • Travel throughout a 50-mile service territory from Longmont to Sedalia
  • Approximately 80% field work at active construction sites
  • Company-provided service truck

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $62400.00 - $79040.00/yr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
